Playing the Game Ready Board
The Amber Temple board has a hybrid presentation of the Main and Lower floors. The Game Ready overview in the gallery shows both layouts side by side.
- Have the party approach and explore the Main floor rooms until they descend.
- Switch to the Lower Floor map when the party descends. Its upper areas are removed, leaving an open play area.
- Rooms and hide volumes above the party can make camera and token movement difficult. The separate Lower Floor layout avoids that obstruction.
- Backtracking may require switching between the layouts, but the clearer play area makes it worthwhile.
The Game Ready TalesTavern listing also links to a version with all hide volumes revealed. Use the direct import button above for that variant, or get the default complete board from TalesTavern rather than assembling slabs.
Slabs and Assembly
For the original slab workflow, assemble these six sections using the companion PDF's instructions:
- Entrance
- Catacombs
- Statue Hall
- West Wing
- East Wing
- Library
The gallery includes an overview of every slab so you can identify the sections. These are assembly pieces, not six alternative complete boards. The older slab listings mention patron-only direct imports; the newer Game Ready listing above now provides a public complete-board import.
The Book Includes
The Amber Temple companion PDF at DMsGuild is Pay What You Want and contains alternate room descriptions, hide-volume instructions and other board information.
- 36 revised room descriptions which accurately reflect rooms visible to players.
- One entirely new windswept staircase.
- Two 2D full-color reference maps as additional materials.
- Details about the challenges of converting 2D maps to 3D.
- Slab assembly instructions and advice.
- Hide-volume instructions to help you navigate the board.
The book enhances the original Curse of Strahd module, which you must obtain separately. If you are just starting your campaign, the source also recommends A Guide to the Curse of Strahd campaign.
